The early morning was quiet, eerily quiet if one were to ask Toby. He was not normally an early riser. Truth be told he was normally one of the last ones in his dorm room to leave his bed. Toby was a last minute riser. He stayed in bed until the last possible minute—often having his time schedule perfectly hone-tuned to this. He knew the exact minute he needed to crawl out of bed in order to make it on time to whatever class or engagement he needed to attend. Granted, he wasn’t always very personable in those early minutes. He mates had learned to leave him alone for at least half an hour before talking to him. Toby needed that time to wake up and become his charming self. He would guess that normal people probably used the time that they woke up early to become personable and just, well awake. But then, Toby liked his sleep. So yeah, it was a bit odd for the Ravenclaw to be up and about in the early hours—especially when he didn’t need to be.
The corridor seemed deserted as he sat there upon the window sill of one of the large windows. He was fine with being alone and in the silence. While a chatter by nature, Toby was also content to dwell in moments of peace and quiet as well. He could appreciate those moments coming from a large family where finding a moment to oneself was near impossible some days. So, yes, Toby could enjoy the peace and quiet. Granted, he still found it all rather eerie.
He had attempted to keep his attention from drifting down melancholy paths, but it seemed with the fog rolling over the hillside outside, the day was just fit for doom and gloom. So, the Ravenclaw had raided the kitchens. He had come back to the little perch he had dubbed his own for that moment with a medium tin full of brownies. He sank against the cool stone of the sill, biting into one of the chocolatey-chewie morsals. “Thank Merlin for obliging house elves,” he murmured to himself around a mouthful for brownie. The brownie even seem still warm to his state of mind, even though he was certain they were not fresh out of the oven. The mastery of house elf baking was all he could peg it down to. The chocolate confection definitely brightened the morning considerably in Toby’s viewpoint.
