In the centre courtyard, islanded by stony walls and castle towers, students can be found loitering about outside, enjoying a breath of fresh air between classes.

Encompassing the entire grounds of the school are the lawns and various trails and paths around the school.

Hogwarts castle is located atop a cliff overlooking a lake. The lake is to the south of the castle and the front doors face generally to the west. There is a small underground inlet, it's entrance covered with hanging ivy, that leads to a stony beach below the castle at the base of the cliff. From here, a path leads up to the front door of the castle. A road runs around the lake to the village of Hogsmeade, where the railway station is located. There are entrances to the grounds, which seems to imply that there is a wall or fence enclosing the entire area. The main entrance gate is flanked by pillars on which stand statues of winged boars.

The green houses lie on the western side of the school, their glass reflects the sun as the insides heats the air for the plants.

A stable is set on the western side of the school where animals are houses and cared for by students and staff alike.

New to Hogwarts' campus are the gardens. The gardens are located just off from the Lake. The gardens have a mixture of plants, bushes, flowers along a small trail. The gardens form a small maze like structure with white marble benches placed throughout it.

Out on the grounds there is the quidditch pitch, a lush green field surrounded by stands that represent each houses. Three golden hoops are located at each end of the pitch.

Out in the grounds is the large lake. Its crystal blue waters reflect the sky in their depth. Be careful however for the giant squid along with other creatures make their home here.
