THE PLOT
{ From Canon } Wiggenweld's Deception will follow the events of the seven Harry Potter novels as history for this Role-Play world. However, since this Role-Play takes place in the year 2120 and forward we will not be dealing with the characters from the books and movies, nor will there be any relations or descendents of canon characters. For the purpose of this Role-Play we will not discuss what has happened to the Golden Trio and their children. It is perhaps assumed that they have all lived perfectly normal lives and lived to ripe old ages. If we need to delve into the history of canon characters we will cross that bridge when it comes. But for now, there is no purpose in doing such.
As to Voldemort and his followers, again we are following the canon and hence Voldemort and his followers have been defeated. There are still those who buy into Voldemort's ideals and may have once been classified as Death Eaters, but that is as far as it goes. There are no "Death Eaters" in this Role Play. Instead, those with those ideals will follow into one of the political groups suiting their views, and if something comes of that ... well, we shall see what forms, won't we?
But please take note, we will try to stick to the canon of the books and movies on many things, however we will also have our own site lore that deviates from book canon. This is to be expected.
{ Wiggenweld World } Since the downfall of Lord Voldemort and his followers, the wizarding world has face a large time of peace. No large threat has risen up to replace that of the Dark Lord. Instead, the time following was seen as a time of rebuilding and picking up the pieces of broken lives from the war. However, as with anything, peace and quiet can never last for long. There will always be some sort of discord in the air. No singular threat has risen to threaten life as we know it, instead things have turned a bit political. There are sides to choose and lines to be drawn. Everyone has a view point and many are not afraid to share them--whether peacefully or violently is an entirely different matter.
Instead of a time of war, we live in a time of confusion and change. Where there are those pushing to forget the old ways or to improve upon them. There are many who say we can no longer live in the past and our daily lives must reflect this. While there are many who believe the opposite. A debate has risen over the world, seeping into our very nature. While many try to ignore it, they cannot escape it as it sinks into their every day life with just the simple expression of opinion or the choice made over what type of cauldron to buy--a classic pewter one or a new bronze one that regulates the temperature to the potion being brewed. A question as old as time, do we stick with what we know or do we embrace the new and unknown?
Even in Hogwarts these questions remain. The school has since been rebuilt and repaired from the great war from years ago, and the generation there cannot even comprehend the feelings that had been building during that time due to the peaceful lives they have been fortunate to live now. Instead, this generation fights for their parents to finally realize they are no longer living in the stone age and that it is perfectly fine to dress and talk to this way--or whatever the fashion is now.
{ The Divisions } As with any group with differing opinions, there are groups that are formed who share like values, below are four of the groups that will used on Wiggenweld's Deceptions. These groups focus more on the idea involving the exposure of muggles and the magical world, but their view can easily be transferred to other issues.
CONVENTIONALISTS want to keep things just as they are. No changes at all to the system. It's worked this long, why start messing with it?
SECULARISTS fear that the ministry isn't doing enough to safeguard the magical world from the invasion of muggles that (they believe) will use magic as a weapon for war - something that has been avoided for so long, since the fall of Voldemort. They want to introduce an 'Immersion License', which would allow only certain individuals to enter the muggle world when it is absolutely necessary. More extreme secularists want to cut all ties completely with the muggle world and even obliviate the muggle prime minister about the magical community.
NEO-TRADITIONALISTS, though small in number, want to return to the old days where witchhunting was popular but to switch it round so that the magical world can wipe muggles from the planet so that the magical community can expand and no longer need to hide.
THE UNIFICATION MOVEMENT want to expose magic and abolish the statute of secrecy. Why not trust muggles to treat magic with respect and understanding and not as a weapon. Isn't mistrust of muggles a Voldemortian view?
