THE SETTING
{ RP Setting } Wiggenweld's Deception is a Harry Potter Role Play that takes place in the future, the year 2120. This Role Play seeks to focus more on the Harry Potter world rather than the characters of the books and movies. As such, this Role Play board will only accept original characters--no relations of canon characters or characters from other fandom or real life. Wiggenweld's Deception is a Hogwarts Role Play that also stretches into the magical realm to supply Role Playing opportunities for non-Hogwarts related characters. There will be no large site plot orchestrated by the Administration that members must participate within and keep moving. Instead, we will supply an environment for members to mold with their characters. Members will be presented with opportunities for their characters to affect the direction of the Role Play--whether with emergence of an enemy or the exploration of political plots of their devising or members may choose to focus solely upon their own personal plots. The choice is really up to you. Below is the Wiggenweld Deception inspiration, a Magical fairy-tale of sorts.
{ Wiggenweld } Once upon a time there was a Kingdom where dwelt a King with a fair daughter. The Princess was remarked upon to be quite beautiful and kind-hearted, loved by all. However, in that kingdom there also dwelt a Hag. Faced with the Princess' beauty, the Hag, already harried by her own misfortune appearance became spiteful and jealous of the fair Princess. One day, angered by the Princess' fair countenance the Hag devised a plan. Secretly the hag coated the spindle of the Princess' spinning wheel with the Draught of Living Death. Next when the Princess went to her spinning wheel the unsuspecting Princess fell to the clutches of the potion. The Kingdom became distraught with their Princess' plight until finally a Prince, who being a wizard knew what ailed the fair Princess, stepped forward. Lips coated with the antidote to the Draught, the wizard kissed the Princess waking her from her death-like slumber. Relief and happiness filled the Kingdom, and in gratitude to the Prince was gifted with the Princess' hand in marriage. Enraged by her failure and embittered by her jealousy, the Hag fled the Kingdom.
It soon became rumored that the Princess awoke with a kiss from her true love. No one hearing the tale knew of the magical secret of the Prince and the Hag's role, the story becoming twisted into the Muggle fairy tale known as Sleeping Beauty. In the magical world, the antidote the young wizard used has become known as Wiggenweld Potion. This story is one of many instances where magical folk have used their magical talent and knowledge to deceive and harm unsuspecting muggles, an underhanded practice that has become a normal interaction between the two realms. Yet this tale also offers another side to its deception. As what of the Prince's motives? Were they to deceive to win the fair Princess' hand or were they that of a good Samaritan, a hero as the Muggle Fairy Tale has so painted him? It is a question that wages strongly to this day...
{ Modern Problems } For every stance there are always at least two sides, two view points to be taken. For a long time there has been discord in the magical world over the concept of Muggles and whether they should be informed of the Magical World's existance or not. However, this is not the only point of controversy. There is also the well known Pureblood and Muggle-Born debate. Yet, as times continue to change and the young witches and wizards see the progress of muggles, there has been a new strain to the magical world. Put simply it has been classified as Traditional vs Society. The magical world has always seemed rather outlandish and out of date in their beliefs and even forms of attire. Yet, now there seems to be an influx of witches and wizards who believe it is time to "Get with the Times" and adapt to new social norms, even if that means adapting to some norms of Muggles.
