Without sleep the passage of time seemed to become almost surreal in a way. One moment she was attending class and then next she knew dinner had already passed. Loosing grip on reality and fading faster into madness had forced the young girl to the hospital wing, a place where she felt condemned to fowl tasting potions and loopy dreams that seemed to become reality. Did the month of November actually pass or was it just a dream? Honestly she could not tell but her peers told her it was December and that Christmas vacation was coming soon. Her grades had started to slip and now she was trying to play catch up on the work load, which only forced her to stay up later and mess up the sleep schedule that the nurse had tried so hard to force her to keep. It was a vicious cycle that she could not break but her professors seemed forgiving this time. Maybe it was because her body looked as weak as she felt or perhaps the bags under her eyes seemed to be more visible as she had forgotten make up once. That morning she had at least dreamed she put it on but when she came out of the daze that was one of the sleeping potions she took she was already in her first class of the day. For Alice the end the of semester would be a blessing for once. She would be able to get herself sorted out, without the help of the nurse's sleep potions, and then she could finish out her sixth year strong. A strong as she could finish it at least.
Another week seemed to slip right past her and soon she found herself facing the first cold December Saturday with nothing to do. More homework and studying but something wasn't quite right with Alice right now. Her mind had gone numb from the work load and she found herself leaving the castle without speaking a word to anyone. The cold air chilled her frail frame to the bone but in her little daze she failed to grab any sort of protection. There was just a thin cardigan and a pair of jeans that protected her skin from the chill. In her dream like daze she wondered the familiar path towards the local village where some students had chosen to spend their Saturday. Her fellow students noticed her as she pasted by but it seemed like no one paid her any mind, not even the Slytherin students she had known since she was 11 years old. She remembered listening to some of the girls she called friends speaking about her odd behavior and she remembered yelling at them but she lacked the memory of when that had been. For all she knew it had been earlier that morning or several weeks back.
Her body began to shiver and her pace began to slow down but her mind seemed to be far off someplace else. Her mind focused on the fact that she would probably be spending another night in the hospital wing with the sick and faking sick. Sometimes the coughing at night woke her, or so she thought it did. There were memories of a young Slytherin girl with some sort of stomach virus that Alice spoke to but she hadn't seen the girl since that evening. They spoke about how Alice always wanted a little sister but instead she had a brat of a brother and then they spoke about the girl's muggle parents. There was this feeling that they both felt unloved by their parents but in the morning the girl was gone and Alice was alone in the wing. It felt like she was shivering harder and for a moment she felt a certain clarity before dropping down to just sit on the curb of the sidewalk. The worst feeling was when the potion wore off and she was left somewhere between insanity and reality.

Winter break would soon be upon the residents of the castle, and Drew like any sane person were starting to feel its clutching fingers. However, the Hufflepuff also felt the stress of it being his final year at the school and the need to pass his final exams with scores in accordance to his chosen career. He never understood the point of picking his career so early in life, and how his schooling would affect it. His theory was actually just to do the best he could so that if being an Auror did not work out he still had decent grades to fall back onto to help him in whatever his next path will happen to be. Yet it was still a bit stressful, even for a laid back student such as Drew. He may not have seemed much like the type to care about such things, but even he was a responsible adult. Although that was certainly questionable at times.
As such, instead of continuing to study or even to work on his current barrage of homework held no thrall for the young wizard to work on. Instead, like so many of his peers, the need to be doing something was more prominent in his mind. So, given the time of week, it wasn’t so odd to find the Hufflepuff meandering through the quaint village near to the school. The village wasn’t all that interesting to Drew anymore. However, it was a change of scene to the stone walls of the castle, so it was enticing in that way. Like many students, Hogsmeade was no longer really that interesting and new to Drew. But, he wasn’t one to complain about being able to get off of school grounds during the term.
However, Drew had not really expected anything to come out of this sojourn away from the castle. If he was honest, he figured he’d just stock up on some candy to keep him sane during his studies and maybe send a bag home to his little sister. What he hadn’t expected to find was a certain Slytherin witch just sitting down on the curb. That was a sight he had never really expected to be met with. After all, Alice Parker did not exactly scream Curb dweller in her high sophisticated manners and level of dress and grooming. However, Drew had already sort of figured out that something wasn’t completely right with the witch currently. Not that he was seeking to fix her, as he wasn’t some girl looking for some sort of project.
Yet, Drew wasn’t the type to simply keep walking. So the Hufflepuff wandered over. He regarded her for a moment, unobserved via the witch for a moment before he shrugged off his winter cloak. He wrapped the garment over the witch’s shoulders as he dropped down to sit down next to her. He kept an arm thrown around her shoulders over the cloak. He was silent for a moment before he dug around in his bag from Honeydukes before handing her a hard candy without a word.

While sitting there she thought of home. Of the cold walls that gave way to silence and the way that it felt so empty when just standing there at any time of the day. The only time it resembled a home was with Christmas decorations and those were also a lie within themselves. Their purpose was only meant to make people think that within those walls lived a happy pureblood family that were welcoming and powerful in their community. The thought of another round of holiday parties made her want to be sick, yet there was no escape for her. But the more she thought about her problem the more she realized she was no longer trapped. She could run. Alice could run far away from her father's home and hide for the length of vacation however for this plan to work she would need to go further than the house where her uncle and grandmother lived. Perhaps it would be safer to get out of England all together.
Her thoughts were crazy and she had to blame it on the sleeping potion even if for a moment they seemed real and possible. Her best option to hide would be at St. Mungos to get her body back to where it needed to be. That was a realistic possibility. For a moment she thought another hallucination had come when she felt the warmth of someone's coat slipping over her shoulders as well as an arm that pulled her in. Her blue eyes glanced up and saw the familiar Hufflepuff sitting besides her. Forcing her body to shop the shivering was impossible but she still tried to appear stronger than she actually was. The offer of candy came without a word and she took the treat from him. "Thank you." She whispered while she unwrapped the piece of candy and slipped it into her mouth.
Then a deafening quiet fell between them, Alice without confidence and unsure of what she needed to say next. Her gaze back on the ground as snow continued to accumulate and blanket the little village streets in front of them. "Are you going to take me back to the castle? Or can we sit here a bit longer?" Alice wondered if Drew had even planned that far in advanced or if he just sat down to show her some pity in the cold snow. Or were his motives simply to help someone who looked like she was down on her luck. From their interactions she knew that he was nice and if she had to guess it was the latter of her ideas. "You know... I've never been to France before. I have heard that it is so lovely in the winter during Christmas time but I've never been. I think I want to go this year." Words started to flow without restraint and she didn't care anymore. They seemed almost giddy as she thought of her crazy idea to just run off for winter break.
Then she paused and felt her sanity return again. Her mad thoughts being chased away by reality yet again."is running away a sign of weakness?" She questioned him with a more serious tone than she had used in her previous statements.

The witch was an odd specimen to be sure. Drew could honestly say that he had little to no clue what was often passing through her mind. He knew the social order that she belonged to, but that really accounted for little. Times were changing and many groups were questioning the old blood families and traditions. Things were changing and it seemed their generation were pushing for those changes. Drew wasn’t certain if the muggle realm had anything to do with that or not, as when comparing the magical to muggle, the magical always seemed rather outdated. Whether this was from the muggles’ ever increasing technology or just from the passing trends of fashion. Either way, many in his generation Drew noted found the world of their parents rather outdated. It was a changing world, and Drew never held any ambitions that he understood anything—not even himself sometimes.
So the wizard made no effort at small talk when he joined the younger witch upon the curb. From their various interactions since their conversation back at the café, Drew had learned a thing or two about the Slytherin. He would like to think that the friendship between the two of them had continued to grow, yet he could not be certain. Unlike the Slytherin, Drew had no qualms in breaking the society norms, in associating with someone considered a part of the lower “rung,” something that Drew knew many of the higher statused witches and wizards labeled him as. He was an unknown mutt, whose lineage was unknown, and as such he wasn’t to be trusted and had been treated as many of the muggle-borns. Drew hadn’t minded as he was used to such things from his peers. From his knowledge of her from the start of term, she used to be like so many of the others: conscious of appearing at her best, at associating with the correct people. Yet, here they were, and such meetings had not been completely uncommon between either.
“That depends on if you want to or not,” he stated simply, pulling the Slytherin closer out of instinct rather than anything else when he still felt her shivering. There was no question why Drew had seated himself there and done what he had. He would have done it for any of his friends. He arched a brow faintly when the girl started to ramble a bit. At least, Drew would characterize it as rambling given her tone of voice. “My brother Peter says it’s nice there,” he stated in response. His elder brother had been working in the country for nearly three years now, however Drew had not visited Peter there yet.
Her final question gave the Hufflepuff pause, and he stared up at the grey colored sky as he thought. “Like many things, it depends. After all, sometimes you need to run in order to survive. What’s the adage? Run away and live to fight another day? Anything is a weakness if you view it in only that light…”

Their meetings had been pleasant ones. It had been nice to meet someone who did not judge who she was based on her family and the people that she knew and considered "friends". Of course after the last few weeks she felt so alienated from her own house that she doubted she had many friends or alliances left. Some would stay, despite her attitude and yelling incident, but most would avoid her unless socially required. Christmas events would require them but if Alice was not there then how could they be required. If Alice faded into nothing then no one would be required to spend time with her and so often it seemed like a nice idea to just fade away. Her eyes focused on the snow flakes drifting down from the sky. They were so beautiful until they melted into the ground and then they became water, which was so common. Alice wanted to feel like a beautiful snow flake.
"I don't want to go back to the castle." She admitted to him as he pulled her in closer. If she could have just stayed on the ground then she would have but eventually she would need to go back. There was nothing that waited back for her at the castle but another sleeping potion and another night in the hospital wing. But she knew that she needed a coat that wasn't shared if she was going to make it back. Perhaps she could accio one to her location or whatever. "You have a brother Peter. Why is he in France?" Alice was naturally curious and loved knowing details about things. The impression she always got from Drew was that his family had love for each other. Asking about his family seemed natural when she assumed that they loved each other.
As he answered her question she shifted to face him while he spoke, feeling small with his arm around her shoulder. Her frame was tiny, which would be criticized by her mother, since no doubt there were already gowns ordered for Christmas parties. "You make a valid point." There was no argument that she could summon at that moment. Too weak to fight anything at the moment. Slowly she pulled away from him and stood up to face him. "Come with me to France... we can visit your brother or go see the Eiffel Tower or anything else." Irrational thought had come back and now she longed to run away from those that held her down.
A sincere smile seemed to light up her face as she looked down at him. For once she was comfortable in her decision to just run away. "We could leave right after the train drops us off at Kings Cross. Or a few days after... whichever you prefer. We could stay in a muggle hotel and then no one would find us. Or I could just drop you off with your brother." She spoke with excitement as she planned something her mind that probably would not even happen. He hadn't even agreed and still her mind was running a mile a minute towards a million different things.

“Then we don’t have to go back yet,” Drew stated matter of factly to her response. He wasn’t in the habit of forcing people to do things against their wills. While Alice was certainly flirting with sickness sitting out in the cold as she was, Drew did not yet see any danger in the actions, and remaining. Besides, he did not think them likely to stay long. If anything, he might nudge the pair of them towards The Three Broomsticks or one of the other establishments to warm up first. He did not quite know yet, nor was he thinking that far ahead. Instead, he was just focusing on the witch at his side. She seemed so vulnerable to times, so much so that he felt like he just wanted to protect her, to help her step into herself. Yet, like so many things in his life, Drew really did not know where his relationship with the girl was going. If it was just strictly friendship or if he had deeper feelings. He did not know, but he was will to wait and see.
He smiled slightly when she asked about his brother. “He’s studying there, I forget what for since I haven’t talked to him in a while,” he responded with a small shrug of his shoulders.
Drew glanced at her when she got to her feet, looking down at him as she spoke. He found himself arching a brow at the plan she was putting forward, a smile tickling the corner of his lips. He leaned back on his palms, ignoring the sting of cold from the ground underneath, as he watched her. It was nice to see the light appear in her eyes as she put forth this made idea, and she was talking to a boy crazy enough to take her up on it. Drew had no problems traveling off to France for a bit. “Sure,” he stated, “I’m sure Peter would put us up for a bit, and if you want you can even visit with my family a bit afterwards. My mothers are always complaining about too much testosterone in the house when we’re all together,” he stated with a smirk.
While Drew was serious in that he would do this with her, he wasn’t completely sure if Alice was serious in this mad scheme of hers. He knew enough about her to know she might rethink it and want to back out. In a way, he was testing her.

Freedom was so close that she could taste it. All she needed to do was get off of that train at Kings Cross and run to wherever she could get to. Take muggle forms of transportation until she got to wherever it was that she longed to go. Of course she would need muggle money or someone to transfer some of her money into muggle money. there had to be someone at Gringgotts that could take care of that for her while still maintaining discretion. It would be key for her to remain quiet for once someone in her world knew of this plan then it would just be as easy as a whisper for it to unfold and leave her trapped again. The worst part about the male wizard sitting with her was how he encouraged her bad choices. He let her stand outside in the freezing cold because she wanted it and he only seemed to encourage her plan to run away to France for the winter holiday. But she loved that someone was allowing her to run with her own fate instead of shoving a preplanned one onto her.
And then he agreed to her idea and even offered her an additional escape from her family by bringing her home to his. Joy and relief seemed to swell inside of her and she could do nothing to contain the smile that spread across her lips. [/b]"you would really bring me home to meet your family?"[/b] She asked. Then she felt the nerves of meeting people outside of those she already knew. Would the judge her for her family name? Not everyone was so forgiving like Drew was. "Are your parents nice?" She asked, the answer was probably an obvious yes but she wanted to hear what he had to say about them.
Folding her arms across her chest to try and warm up her hands using the heat from her body. Alice was starting to truly feel the cold in her bones. As she looked at him she thought that he looked warm and she knew that she needed to be warm or else she might not make it back to the Castle without help. Slowly moving closer she dropped down to her knees in front of him before moving closer to him. Controlled Alice would have never allowed herself such an act but now she was not controlled. She was acting on impulse and desire because it was all she could feel in that moment. She moved closer and wrapped her arms around him, hoping that he wouldn't pull away. Once she was closer to him than she had ever been before she laid her head on his chest feeling protected. "Take me away from here." She whispered softly to him.
"lets just forget the last few days of the semester and go now. No one will notice." That was a lie. Someone would notice, probably a teacher or even the headmaster. But Alice wanted to go now.

Drew was amused watching the teen before him. The wizard really had no idea how far Alice was willing to take this spontaneous planning of a winter holiday. Was it all just talk for this moment? Would she get cold feet the moment she was away from him, on her own back in the castle? Would the very thought of this rebellious act cause her to retract her plan? Or was this something that the more she thought about it, the more firm it became in her intentions, especially when the Hufflepuff was providing her with an escape, with fuel for the flame that had sparked in a moment of desperation? Drew had no answer for these thoughts nor did he expect that the Slytherin witch really knew all herself even. However, Drew was more than willing to follow along in this mad plan. He was quite frankly that the person one would come to be talked out of any mad adventure. After all, Drew had his share of mad adventures and schemes that had gotten into both by himself and with friends. However, the Hufflepuff would not let any harm befall the witch if they were to do this.
“If you’re willing to brave two nosy witches, a handful of teenage and adults males plus a one little girl, plus possibly insinuation we’re dating and what not, then you’re more than welcome in the Weston-Jenkins household. My mothers are nosy but well meaning.” he stated, answering both her inquiries in one answer. The Hufflepuff knew roughly what to expect from his mothers, and he kind of feared bringing the witch into his house because surely Alice would find herself being mother-henned by two well-meaning witches. But looking at the pale Slytherin, perhaps that was something she needed as well—to be in a boisterous scene where she’s accepted and encouraged.
The witch changed positions once more, coming to his side, curling up against him. Drew had no qualms in pulling the witch onto his lap, wrapping his arms about her smaller frame, enclosing her in his warmth. He worried briefly how she would handle the back-talk and rumors of those in their circle after this meeting concluded. For the two teenagers were far from being in a secluded area. Drew could care less about such things, but he knew it was not the same for Alice. Perhaps she wanted not to care, but she was not yet afforded that luxury.
He frowned briefly at her words. They could not leave now. Drew was too much of a realist to attempt that. “You know we can’t” he stated. “But if you’re still intent on this adventure when we leave for the holidays I’ll still be game.” he told her. “Though it’ll be nice to know ahead of time so I can let my family know what to expect,” he stated with a small smile, idly rubbing his hand along Alice’s upper arm, drawing up warmth.

As he described the house that she would be venturing into she tried so hard to image what it would really be like. Cramped because they couldn't afford a large house or would be feel more cozy and comfortable. She imagined too many people all crammed around a small table meant for a fewer number of people. Of course when he mentioned the fact that there were many adult and teenaged boys she imaged that the house probably smelt like socks and testosterone. At least there was one little girl, that he mentioned, so maybe it wouldn't be as bad as she had originally pictured. The end result would be that his house was different from her own, and that is what she wanted more than anything. "I do believe all mothers are supposed to be nosy. Besides I do believe it is only natural for people of our age group to begin dating." Her own mother was semi nosy at least when the subject of gossip came up. Otherwise she left Alice to her own devices but she feared that this meeting would cause her mother to become nosy.
Curling up in his arms and on his lap had never been apart of her plan for the day. Physical contact was really restricted to the way a man would touch her while dancing with her or the occasional kiss on the cheek during a greeting. This was all new to Alice but somewhere in her brain she wanted it. She wanted it enough to just give in and do it without over thinking it. Even though some where passing her by and probably whispering she just didn't care right now. Her lack of caring would be the death of her but when she was allowed to day dream she often imaged being thrown out and on her own. A new last name to hide her identity and a real career to vend for herself. It was only a fantasy but it felt so real to her while she sat on his lap and was wrapped up in his arms.
"Trust me I know..." Too much of a realist to attempt it but she wanted to secretly. There were classes to finish and she couldn't even contemplate how they could get out without their absence being really noted. It wasn't like they were leaving for winter break tomorrow, if that was the case then she might have pushed harder to leave. "Yes I do still want to go. Just tell me when its alright for me to come over and I will be there." Honestly she was contemplating whether or not she was just going to be honest with her family. Maybe lie and tell them that she was having relations with this boy from a family that was well below their station. The darker part inside of her wanted to see what they would honestly do to her.
Reality coming and going faster than she would have liked. One moment she longed for a store that sold coats and the next she wanted to remain in his embrace, scared to leave it. "I think I'm going mad." She whispered to him. "And I think its time to get myself a coat."

“What? No more secretly sneaking off?” he mused aloud with a half smirk. “Avoiding families during the mad rush of getting off the train and just going our own way?” he inquired with a small bit of humor. It was certainly a scenario that followed the mad plan she had just been trying to talk him into. Truthfully, Drew was still uncertain wheter the pureblood witch would even follow through with such a plan. At the moment, she was hardly in her right mind. It would not take much to nudge her in the other direction once time has passed until that point. It wasn’t merely just time either. They were out in the open and there would be other people around once they parted. People in her circle who would pressure her into Merlin knew what. Drew just wasn’t certain how serious Alice was in this flight of fancy.
He saw so much potential in her. Potential to succeed and potentia to fail. It all hinged on the decisions she made and if she could stick to her ambitions. Surely she was able to do such a thing. The house of Slytherin was was known for its occupants’ ambitions. They were the type to make things happen no matter the cost. Surely this was at trait Alice possessed even if currently she felt a drift at sea. Perhaps Drew was curious to see what she would end up doing. But then, it wasn’t merely curiousity that kept the Hufflepuff around. If he didn’t care for the witch even a little bit there wasn’t likely any chance he would be there now. Yes, he cared for her, and he wanted to help her through whatever this was. To help where he possibly could.
He contemplated her final statement before retorting, “No more than anyone else. Hey, you might even be one-up on them in admitting to the fact,” he stated, though he made no move to move or right the witch in response to her coat statement, although he did ask “Is my cloak no longer good enough?” with a slight tease to his tone.

How did they get from sneaking off to planning to meet at his house for his family get together? Wasn't the point that she wanted to just run and be unnoticed? The more she thought about it the less she cared about who knew that she was sneaking away. Her mind was likely to change since they had only been talking about the plan for less than an hour and already she couldn't get it straight. "Oh whatever... we can sneak off or you could just run over and give me a big sloppy kiss in front of my parents. Either way they won't be happy." She admitted and just laughed out loud for a moment. There was no need to laugh but it seemed right. The real consequences would not be a laughing matter but to hell with all of that. "Lets not sneak off. I will come over to your house after Christmas and we can just leave from there. Can we take a muggle train to Paris? Or one of those things..." She was trying to find the word for something muggle that she saw in London. But she instead ended up laughing at her inability to find the word. "Its like a broom but it holds a ton of people."
More planning had to be done if they were going to do this. Sure they could worry about details like where they would sleep once they were there but the first priority had to be how to actually get there. She couldn't apparate yet due to her age. "I guess there is always floo powder if we don't want to travel the muggle way." The destination didn't seem as important as the journey itself, to her. Paris would be an interesting place to see since there was history and all but anyone could go. Getting there was the key and she wanted it to be some sort of self discovery type of journey. Save her from the madness that she felt. "I don't think the insane give preference to those that can admit it. They just lock you away faster because you won't fight them on it any longer."
Alice like his teasing tone, it made her smile but practically they couldn't just share a coat all the way back to the castle. "I don't image it will be easy for us to share while walking back to the castle. But we could do it if you wanted." People were already going to talk about her so why not add fuel to the fire. "And I won't allow you to freeze to death while I wear your coat." The real risk of freezing to death was minimal but it was pretty cold, enough to make someone sick and earn them a trip to the hospital wing. Unless that is what he wanted since she was probably going to be stuck there after this little incident.

Drew smirked briefly at the girl’s flippant remark to the state of their current plans. He couldn’t really imagine either of them executing the plan of kissing, which had probably been the brunette’s point in using it as an example. Granted, the wizard probably would not be adverse to a bit of lip-locking but that was hardly in the here and now, and it was certainly something he needed to wrap his own mind a bit more before treading down that certain path. So Drew left that particular scenario unexplored and instead retorted, “Or I could just hide you away in my trunk and sneak you past the doddering parents that way … granted, you would probably need to have given some forewarning of not coming home.” Drew spoke with a thoughtful hum to his tone of voice. “Though frankly, the fun part is sneaking off without giving any notice.”
Granted, Drew should probably have learned his lesson from that particular excitement, considering he pulled a stunt similar last summer. He and a few of his mates had just blew off the train station meet and greets and headed for the hills (so to speak). Drew had gotten quite the talking too on that one. He didn’t particularly regret it, but he doubt that his mothers would over look a second occurrence … though perhaps if he was in the presence of a pretty lady they would go easy on him (HA! More than likely he would be pulled out of ear shot and get his own ear shot).
“Or I could apparate us there,” he stated off-handedly with a shrug of his shoulders. Having a birthday early in the school term meant that Drew was one of the lucky ones who took their test the summer prior to their seventh year. “Though frankly, the method makes no difference to me. We could do a variety of ways, muggle and magical.” Drew was never really one to quibble about details, but rather face things as they came. Truth be told, if the Hufflepuff didn’t apparate he would probably just jump the next train going in the direction he needed.
He shook his head briefly at her comment of his freezing. “It’s hardly that cold,” he retorted with a mild snort. Granted, Drew was not dressed lightly either, as the wizard was clad in a fleece-lined muggle jacket. His cloak had merely been an extra layer. But then, the cold rarely bothered Drew. The youth always stated that if he was cold then he was ill. “Though if the lady insists, who am I to argue?” he stated.

There was the immediate laughter that came from her when he suggested that she just hide away in his trunk so that he could sneak her away. Even Alice had to admit that she was probably small enough to curl up inside someone's trunk but she doubted that it would be very comfortable, unless the trunk was cursed to have an infinite amount of room available. If that were the case then she would just live in a trunk and never worry about the outside world, like some magical muggle genie that was trapped inside of a magical lamp. She just wouldn't come out when called. "Do you think that I would fit? You probably wouldn't be able to pack any clothing and then you would have nothing to wear during the winter holiday... assuming you don't have a full wardrobe of clothing back home. She had a full assemble back home that she could wear. The clothing she brought to Hogwarts was often the stuff that she deemed necessary to live like a normal teenager. Nicer dresses and expensive jeans mostly for the image that it portrayed. Either way she would not be sneaking out of the train in someone's trunk but at least the suggest made her laugh.
Then she listened to his second comment about the fun in sneaking away from one's parents. Honestly she had never done it, although she considered it many times. Alice played the role of dutiful daughter without any hints of rebellion until now. "You sound as though you've done it before. There was a short pause as she considered other possibilities was to why he would suggest how much fun it was to do something behind her parents back. "That or you are trying to encourage me to do it because you are such a bad influence. I never thought that a Hufflepuff boy would be the bad influence in my life." She joked and laughed without any fear or hesitation. Self control slipped away each time she gave into the laughter. "but if it means so much to you then to hell with my parents. They don't care enough anyways so I won't tell a soul. We will just sneak off to Paris and have a wonderful time." It would work. It had to work. No matter what she was going to leave that house and find herself a way to Paris for a period of time.
"Have you ever apparated with another person before?" Then again did she really care? Everyone had a first time and maybe she was just worried because she didn't want to die or get injured doing something stupid. Sneaking out would be hard if she ended up at Saint Mungos with that sort of injury. If she was going to get yelled at then she wanted to at least be doing something semi fun before she lost all of her privileges. "To be honest with you... I was thinking more along the train route. They are quite enjoyable to ride on and I have heard that the scenery in France is lovely." And she wanted to see it. They could always apparate back if needed but she hoped that he would be compliant with her desire.
Maybe she hadn't been paying attention to what he had on under that jacket that he offered her or maybe she just felt bad using his clothing when she thought he needed it. When he said that it wasn't that cold she finally just looked down at the fleece that she had felt when she curled up on his lap. "I guess you are plenty warm." She admitted. Bringing her hand up she touched the soft material that he was wearing and just smiled. It was the sort of fabric she didn't own any of but the way it felt was wonderful. The kind of softness that she could have fallen asleep on when the need took her. "I will keep the jacket then... at least until we get back to the castle if you don't mind. A new jacket isn't worth all of the time shopping for it."

Drew smiled amused as the witch broke out into laughter. The suggested comment had been made mostly in jest, but there was a hint of possibility to it if it ever came down to it. However, frankly, Drew had trouble seeing Alice being the type to willingly hide out inside of a trunk, let alone a guy’s trunk. However, there were certainly firsts for everything, right? Yet, it was certainly not something that Drew actually saw coming into fruitation. It was a wild idea to begin with. Drew cocked an eyebrow as she got her laughter under control to ask about fitting into trunks. “And here I thought all girls had perfect that charm for widening the space inside their trunk,” he said with a tease as he helped her to her feet, getting up himself. It seemed things were starting to wind down a bit between them, and heading back to the castle was looming more in the future.
Yet Drew laughed fully when Alice deduced that he was being the bad influence here. “I have no idea where you got the notion that I would be a good influence here. I’ve racked up my share of detentions and groundings from the shenanigans I’ve gotten into with my friends,” he said, amusement clear in his voice. “Which just means you’re with a somewhat expert when it comes to sneaking off places. I say somewhat, as I am nowhere near perfect.” He arched a brow at her. Truthfully, Drew didn’t know how she thought that he would be a good influence. Drew had quite the reputation for being a bit of a class clown in his year, and he and his friends had gotten enough detentions with their Hogwarts career to expand a couple months if counted up.
As they started walking, Drew inclined his head in response to his question, “Yeah, I have,” he said. “My one mum wanted to make sure I’m prepared for anything, that she isn’t much of a fan apparating herself, so if she can tag along with someone else she’s all for that.” He didn’t really understand his parents sometimes. But then, what child ever did? “Trains are fine. Far more easier even. Let the Hogwarts Express pull into station and instead of meeting with the rents hop onto the nearest train going in the direction you need,” he stated with a nod of his head. Yeah, he’d done it before.

Perhaps it was comical that she called him the bad influence but it was all a matter of reference. He was willingly leading her away from her "friends" and family, off to a foreign country, and continuing to allow the act to happen. From her point of view, or at least the point of view of her parents, he was the one who was going to sully her purity. They were old fashioned when it came to that sort of thing but only because the price for purity was higher than someone that was tainted by impure blood. "I never thought that you would be a good influence. Just a better one than the ones I am currently exposed to." She replied with a smile. No one in her life had really been a good influence, except for her uncle who had saved her in many ways. But the inner safety of her family didn't need to be brought up. "Well I am glad that I can be in the presence of a some what expert. As a novice I fear I might get lost or loose my nerve so having you around will ensure that this happens without sever injury." She replied. Admitting that this was something she could never fully do on her own was hard. Alice needed that extra push if she was going to get everything out of life that she wanted. This was the best stepping stone for her. It would show her how her family would react and how sever any punishment would be for such a small offense.
It amused Alice to know that there was a witch out there who basically used her son for transportation when she didn't want to apprate. "Do you also have the pleasure of transporting your younger siblings around when your parents are too busy?" The inner workings of a typical family had been learned by Alice, mostly through observations. She would watch families while she in cafes to see how they acted. Watching as parents doted on their children with hugs and kisses while siblings teased each other. The opposite of her household where she spoke to her brother as required and did not enjoy hugs from her parents. Then she nodded as he confirmed their plans to take a train and to leave directly from the station. "I like this idea and I will be ready to leave then." There was a definite firmness to her words as she spoke. Alice was ready and willing to go. Hopefully another night of sleeping potions would not remove the idea from her mind.
They were heading up the path that lead towards the castle, occasionally passing another student or two heading in the opposite direction. Eventually she moved closer to him and slipped her hand into his as they walked. There was no reason behind the move but Alice was far beyond reason or rationale at this moment. "I want to see the entire world. We should start with France and then during the summer just hop on a train somewhere else. Would it be possible to see the world in a summer? Yes I would miss all of those parties that my parents but who really needs to attend another party?" Again she babbled for a moment as ideas just popped up into her head.
